Extraction

Extraction

The removal of tooth is called tooth extraction. There are different reasons, why a tooth needs to be removed. As “tooth preserver†we would like you to retain your teeth for as long as possible. The most precious structures, however, is your bone. A significant amount of bone volume is lost after a tooth is extracted. We decide according to a 5-year prognosis, i.e. if one or more of your teeth only have a poor or no chance to survive the next 5 years, the premature removal of this/these teeth is justified to preserve bone for an implantation. This decision is even more important the younger the patient.
The most common reason for a tooth extraction is excessive caries/decay, so that the preservation of the root is technically not possible or sensible any more, or periodontitis where the bone is destroyed by a bacterial infection.
The indication for a tooth extraction can also be due to orthodontic reasons, for example, when the bony base is too small for the teeth present.erne Kieferbasen vorliegen
