Surgical crown lengthening is used to improve the distance between the restoration margin and the bone crest after severe tooth destruction (biological width). It is important to understand that in principle, this is the wrong approach. Nevertheless, in some cases this is the appropriate thing to do. As alternative, the tooth can be extruded orthodentically. This is more time consuming, however, the results are on the right level.
