Fixed bridges
The fixed bridge is used for the replacement of missing teeth. The bridge abutment (pillar) is ground into the shape for crowns. As with crowns, there are different types here as well. From metal bridges over metal based to all ceramic bridges everything is possible these days. It is a classical treatment approach. That has a long history of scientific testing. They are increasingly replaced by implant supported prostheses (tooth replacements).
A new trend is in the material – circonium dioxide ceramic. It seems to be the almost perfect substitute for all other materials used in fixed crowns and bridges.
